Compare energy prices and suppliers

Why compare energy prices?

If you’re looking to compare energy prices from leading UK suppliers and lower your gas and electricity bills, you’ve come to the right place. Make use of our energy comparison site, and start saving today. Currently, two out of three people are being overcharged for their energy. Unless you switch suppliers regularly, you’re probably paying more than you need to. In fact, it’s estimated that at least 52% of people are paying more than they need to for gas and electricity. Most energy suppliers update their rates and deals frequently, so switching is a great way to reduce your bills.

It’s important to compare energy prices because the cheapest gas and electricity deals are normally 12-month fixed-rate contracts. If you don’t switch when your contract ends, you’ll be rolled on to a Standard Variable Tariff which will charge a more expensive rate. To make the most of cheap fixed-rate deals you need to switch every year.

With energy bills on the rise, it’s important to try to cut costs where possible. Whether you’re looking for a dual fuel tariff or separate gas and electricity tariffs, we’ll help you find the cheapest energy deals available in your area.  Switching with our service is so simple that it should only take a few minutes. We have partnered with The Energy Shop, who are accredited by the Ofgem Confidence Code which governs how energy comparison sites work. This means you’re getting a service you know you can trust, and the results are independent and impartial.

What type of energy deals are available?

We provide energy comparisons for gas tariffs and electricity tariffs individually – as well as dual-fuel tariffs that cover both gas and electricity.

In addition to this, because we have so many potential energy suppliers the ideal arrangement for your circumstances might be a deal that fixes your costs for a certain period, or it might be with a company that cuts down on the admin to cut its prices – or even a firm that has connections with greener energy sources.

There are hundreds of energy deals available – we’re certain one of them will be perfect for your needs. Let us find it for you.

No-one wants to overspend on their bills. Our price comparison service makes it easy to find great deals on cheap gas and electric.

We carry out a whole of market energy comparison, showing you all UK gas and electricity suppliers.

There are 61 active domestic energy suppliers in the UK (according to Ofgem, the UK Government’s Office of Gas and Electricity Markets), so which one should you choose?

When you compare gas and electricity providers, you’ll get access to the cheapest rates and most up to date deals. With so many suppliers to choose from, however, it can take a significant amount of time to research their rates and compare them yourself. That’s why most people simply don’t bother to switch energy suppliers on a regular basis.

By staying with your current supplier and not updating your deal, it’s likely you’ll end up spending more than you need. When your deal runs out, you’re usually automatically put onto a standard tariff, which typically means higher bills.

It literally takes seconds to compare gas and electric providers and find the best deal. We’ll compare the rates on offer from hundreds of providers, including your existing supplier, to determine what the cheapest option is. With Switch My Energy, getting a cheap gas and electricity deal takes seconds.

You can switch gas and electricity suppliers whenever you like. However, you may be charged an exit fee (which can be up to £30 per fuel) if you are on a fixed-term deal, that is if the amount your pay for your energy is fixed for a certain length of time (usually a year). Some suppliers won’t charge you an exit fee, although you may be charged more for your energy as a result.

You will not be charged an exit fee in the last 7 weeks (49 days) of your deal. Plus, your energy company is obliged to notify you that your fixed-term deal is coming to an end. This is the best time to look for a new deal and avoid an exit fee.

As well as comparing energy prices and switching to a cheaper tariff or provider, you can save on your bills by being more energy-efficient. Whether you’re running a business or a home, adopting a green energy approach is always a good idea. With top energy-saving ideas, you can save money and help to protect the environment.
